'reel' life

A few weeks back, Meghan and her team over at Absolutely Art had a Art Swap. A fantastic 'green' idea where artists and junkers of all types swap their treasures with others. I bring a stack of design magazines and a shoebox of wine corks, and somebody else brings neat fabric remnants and a bagfull of buttons. Brilliant ! What a great way to share something I no longer have interest in, and in turn, pick up something that inspires me. All while saving something from the landfill. The event is free, but any donations made go to their Shirts that Supply program. A fund that donates art supplies to local schools. I came home with alot of fun items, but this was the most intriguing...a reel of old projector film.

Donated from a local school, this reel of 'Born Innocent' was daring me to make something clever out of. The number roll at the beginning instantly made me think ...dangly earrings. So, I laminated and trimmed a section of 6 frames, punched a small hole and added a ear wire. I love them and I have only gotten 4 feet into the reel. Who know what images lie later in the viewing.

I am keeping the number 5 for me (it has become my new lucky number) but am also putting a few in the shop. I still have another idea for some more sections, but I need a little more time to figure that one out. It is more of an art piece.

Have a great weekend all, maybe enjoying a film. I am off to Chicago to attended the Country Living Entrepreneur event. It was last years event that inspired me to open an Etsy shop, start this blog and start believing I can make a career out of all of this. I am pretty excited to see what it inspires this time.

That swap sounds like fun! And I bet there's so much you can do with film rolls.

I loved these earrings on you, dearest! They were fabulous!

I was so sorry to miss you at the end of the event on Saturday, it took me a while to get through the wine line and by that time I couldn't find many people at all :( It was great being able to catch up with you, though, you look wonderful! Let's plan a coffee date SOON--whenever you have a free afternoon show up!
