that salvage glow

At one of my first trips to the University's SWAP, I picked up this carrier, sorter, divider of sorts for ONE $. I immediately thought vase, and knew that I just needed to find 12 vessels and I would have a fantastic centerpiece. I especially liked the old test markings of Phosphorus on it.

After recalling my high school knowledge of chemistry, I remembered that Phosphorus has a natural glow and is extremely poisonous. So much in fact that white phosphorus needs to be stored in water as it is that reactive to air. Huh, seems I was on the right track with the vases. But, I think wildflowers are just a little happier then volatile inorganic compounds .

Well, finding 12 of the same thing (used none the less) is no easy task. But as the old adage says, 'it when you stop looking for something'...

So yesterday I find these tall highball glasses at Savers. Although I had written the dimensions down, I of course did not have them with me, but my instincts said YES they would work and would you believe there was 12. 11 at first, until I looked on a neighboring shelf to find the straggler. Meant to be !

I love, love, love this. Very Napa-Style or Anthropology, and at a fraction of the cost. I bet this would run $125 at an upscale boutique and this version....$9.28.

You will not see this in my shop or for sale at the street fair my friends....this will be gracing my tables for years to come. Lesson learned. If you love something, get it....you will find a way to make it work someday.
