Happy 4th of July all. Hope it is filled with sunny weather, al fresco dining, good friends and a cool cocktail...or two. We got ours off to a great start last night, by attending one of 6 Wednesday night Concerts on the Square (this weeks was pushed to Thursday due to cold...crazy. Anyway after an impromptu decision, (you can tell by the snacks)
we grabbed a blanket and headed downtown. We snagged a great spot with a fabulous view of the capital.
On our other side was this wonderfully gnarly tree.
While lying on our blanket admiring the view from below, Nate commented that if he were a monkey that this would be an excellent tree to play in. My thoughts exactly.Getting hungry we strolled down State Street to Five Guys for an unbelievably tasty cheeseburger with onions and shrooms. If you have never been, seriously check it out, oh and share an order or fries with a friend....they give you a boatload.
The cool weather and full bellies encouraged us to continue the stroll until we ended up along the lake. Snagging a table at the Union's terrace for some Hopalicious, a sunset and a FREE concert with Jackie Greene was the perfect way to end a spontanious summer evening.
As if that wasn't enough, we are heading down to Chicago in a few hours for more friends, food and festivities.be safe & enjoy!
