If you haven't heard, there is a blue moon tonight. A blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month and in case you skipped astronomy class...there is one full moon each month.Blue Moons occur once every 2.5 years . But a New Years Eve blue moon, only happens every 19 years...another great reason to celebrate. The term is over 400 years old and the word 'blue' was originally meant to describe the 13th moon of the year, not the color. A few other definitions have since been adopted, but probably the most common is the "once in a ...".

My husband just told me that tonight is a blue moon!
We are going for a blue moon snowshoe tonight. I can't wait! What a perfect way to end a long year and celebrate the new year to come!
